Dimensions?

Looks slightly taller and wider than the HTC Topaz, roughly same thickness. Screen looks larger, though. 3.4" / 3.6"?

same phone in pics?

Well, have to say it looks nice face on, though how do all these mfg's manage to make the phones look fairly flat (thin) in the pics where they're laying face up on a tabletop but the side-on view shows them looking much thicker. This is very similar to the Nokia X6 is this regard.

Also, the 1st pic clearly shows a metalic silver band along the sides of the device which is strangely absent from the 2nd pic -are both these photos actually of the same phone?

Heart

I want this phone. It's got it all. Snapdragon processor. Google Android operating system.

All those folk fleeing the train wreck of Windows Mobile should take a look at this Android phone.

Now I am probably wrong, but isn't the reason the iphone is so popular is because of it's vast app store? I would love a new fancy phone but would be inclined to go for an iphone opposed to an android based phone because of the relative lack of apps on the android store. Therefore IMO you can but as many gigahertz into a phone as you like but with out all the little toys you can download it's probably gonna bomb.

Hurrah, no more HTC repairs for me.

So do I. As long as it isn't loaded with the same sort of crapware that their laptops are sold with.

Not same phone in pics

@Thomas K., the first pic is clearly marketing-department propaganda, while the second is a real snap from an El Reg hack. Ergo, no, they're not exactly the same phone.

You must have missed the posting about the Android Marketplace where there are lots of FREE and paid apps. Given the Linux architecture once the Android phones become even more popular there will be a lot of additional existing Linux apps being ported, especially with the same compilers, libraries, and such.

Finally

an Android handset that doesn't look completely naff (at least in the first pic - the side on pic doesn't look to be the same phone).

Will be upgrading in the next few months, and I was looking at the HTC HD2 (formerly LEO) which is also based on snapdragon, but this might be worth looking at (I know the Leo screen is bigger, but that's not the only consideration

Android primer?

Thumb Up

Is there a good site to go to where I can find out what you can and can't do with Android?

Like Exchange push email access, what the browser is like, pointers to extra software that's worth installing.
