It's easy to see how this came about; A story appeared on The Reg yesterday regarding the Sense UI (based upon the UI of the same name from the Android handsets) would be appearing on the HTC Touch HD2. It's T-Mobile not understanding that UI != OS.
Oh, and do me a favour; Hold your hands out in front of you, palms forward, fingers together, and thumb at 90 degrees (or as close as you can get it) to your hand. The one which forms a shape like an L with the index and thumb is your *left* hand. Incidentally, that's where you'll find the Start menu on WinMobile.
Take Open Office as an example, I got a document from Word, I opened it at home in Open Office and edited it, I then came to work, tried to open the resulting document in MS Word. Word told me it needed a converter, and downloaded one.
It then presented me with gibberish and announced there were errors in the document. I then installed Open office and opened my document and stopped using Word.
Either they're up to their games, or they're incompetent, but seriously, who the f*** wants to bother with bad software like that when a few clicks is all it needs to replace it for free?
I don't like Google's privacy protections, I find their 'privacy sock puppet' misleading, yet I will go for Android over MS Mobile Smartphone Thingy (sorry don't know the name of their platform) any and every time.
I thought it was bizarre, that HTC said it will make this a Windows Mobile phone, even though the public all wants Android, for the stated reason that HTC needs to "take care" of Microsoft and Windows Mobile. Crazy stuff.
The only explanation I can think of is that Microsoft is paying HTC to make it. If Microsoft is paying, then that beats Google's Free OS model.
So... you took a document, edited it in something that thinks it's implemented the original file format properly but maybe not so sure, then tried to open it in the original application which attempted to try and solve the problems that had been introduced and... it's Office's fault.
Hmmm... not sure how that counts as an "on topic rant"
that the HD2 was going to be Android and therefore it will be trivial to put Android on it.
A stated elsewhere, it's all fine and dandy having Sense (Manilla2.5) on this phone with its capacitive loveliness, if only Windows Mobile 6.5 supported capacitive. Using anything outside Manilla would be a PITA with only fingers and there are no good capacitive styli that I'm aware of (HTC have a patent for one, but no stylus ships with the HD2).

I would have thought that was the bigger mistake...

Not even an HD2 #

The picture isn't of an HD2 either so T Mobile failed on two counts.

It could easily be that they said "Android Market" when they meant something else.

Screen size? #

Isn't this the one that's meant to have a 4.3" screen, not a 3.8"?

If this is for real, it's a very clever move for Google.
They know that there's money in the apps, and if they can take over the WMo apps ecosystem, they virtually control the platform.
Doubt it's true, tho. MS would never allow it.

iPhone haters get a HD2.
Geeks, get a TP2.
