Female, Filipino?

In 'Racist' job ad sparks investigation

Heart

So that would be a transexual employee, right? Females from the Philippines are 'Filipina', the fellas 'Filipino'.

In 'Racist' job ad sparks investigation

Joke

It was one of Spike's cardboard & leather hard drives! Couldn't get the wood, you know.

God I miss him.

Odd...

In Supersonic stealth jumpjet achieves its first mid-air hover

WTF?

...I seem to recall a USAF spokesman's recent response to statements about the Su-30's far superior maneuverability vis-a-vis the F35/22: "Irrelevant. Dogfighting is 60s strategy. Future air war will be 'over-the horizon' using rockets."

But what does he know?

Oh, really?

In Microsoft bribes Oz to ditch Firefox

Gates Horns

So the voucher's location has not already been leaked by one of the MS team to a pal who'll split the prize later? Forgive my scepticism about *anything* concerning MS.

Or another PR stunt?

In Paris loses her BlackBerry in Cannes hotel

No _evidence_ of loss. No steps taken to recover/disable the device? Her handlers/bodyguards asleep? Maybe. But great, free, global publicity for Ms P & her pals. And for her next trick...we await her pleasure.

@Sad Day

In Aussie censors implement six degrees of separation policy

Pirate

Shook Little Johnnie's hand? Didn't the rabies shots hurt? As for the label "Fascist Oz" , it's appropriate given the way Big Biz dictates govt policy. Fascists don't need to ban McDonalds or Footie or TV. In fact, they support any opiate of the people that keeps them hoodwinked while the big boys make off with the/your loot. Oz was already fascist when I left in the 70s & it's only got worse.

Soooo PC

In Swedish factory fined $3,000 for robot attack

Boffin

"...man attempted to repair a defective machine used to lift rocks without properly checking the power supply beforehand."

So the company is fined because an idiot acts like an idiot? Shouldn't the idiot be fined for wasting the company's time?

I find Ubuntu "desktop ready". But I have serious doubts about Camilla...on the desktop or any other flat surface.

@AC 10:53 and all the other little children...

In Pirate Bay loses trial: defendants face prison time, hefty fines

Happy

Let me get this right...

"Theft act 1968:

1 Basic definition of theft

(1) A person is guilty of theft if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it; and thief and steal shall be construed accordingly."

So, by this definition, I can take your Aston Martin for a joy ride, return it, and walk away without charge. So, theft is NOT theft if thief returns stolen property?

No Air car??

Promising performance from the Tesla. But I'm waiting for air cars, at least for city travel.

Electric scratchies?

In Isolated Aussies left really isolated

Thumb Down

..."beloved scratchie and pokie machines were down."?

Last time I bought a $2 scratchie in Sydney it was printed on a matchbox-sized card and I scraped off the masking film to reveal the symbols. No batteries or wall plug needed. Are they going very hi-tech in the Top End?

Freezing points?

In Ice in fuel feed caused Heathrow 777 crash

Boffin

These planes use Jet A-1 (freezing point -47C). Even over the equator at 10,000 m. the outside temp's usually below -50 C, which would freeze fuel, not to mention water. So fuel tanks and delivery systems are insulated/heated. Sumping tanks and on-ground storage facilities to remove water is (supposedly) routine. I'll guess lack of routine sumping at departure point...but let's wait for final report.

Machismo - Japnese-style

In Seven Japanese poisoned by blowfish 'nads

Alert

Lived in Japan & regularly went to sashimi bars with Japanese colleagues. Eating fugu - usually the raw liver - is a bit macho, a dare. Not a game to play after too many bottles of sake.

The meat is quite tender, I hear, though I never tried it, even if the "sushika" did have his fugu license up on the wall.

For pure taste, toro (fatty Blue fin tuna) is unbeatable. And very pricey.

What's with the Mr Sarandon?

In Shawshank thesp erased from NY voter rolls

Alert

Does the "author" think that de facto male partners take the female's surname? Or is the ignoramus suggesting that Tim Robbins, academy award winning actor, director, is less well known than his female partner? Just give the facts & let the readers work it out.

Psion Netbook comparable?

In LG shows gadget based on next-gen Intel UMPC chip

Unhappy

Shame that the Psion Netbook, running EPOC, was discontinued. Mine still beats the Eee for keyboard (think Thinkpad), battery life (8-9 hrs), touchscreen, unbreakbale OS & apps. Another brilliant concept before its time. Any chance a of revival? And I dont mean the awful Win CE doorstop over at Teklogix!
