Here in Canada, a Mac seems much more expensive then a similarly equipped PC from Dell, HP, or whoever.
If that is not the case elsewhere then why does Apple fight so hard against competition? Between their lawyers and the DRM they added to the Mac OS to prevent it from running on regular PC's, Apple has fought very hard to force its customers to buy their hardware from Apple.
This is because Apple has huge margins on their hardware and, even with their great brand name, they would loose a lot of hardware business if their customers had choice.
(I'm not defending any of the details of the MS backed study - just the conclusion.)
Everything else I don't care about - but the fixed width problem is very important to me.
It used to be that most media sites were fixed width (and narrow too) but slowly the situation is improving as sites are designed for the greater range of widths being used.
I would switch to another site to protest this change but I'm too lazy.
A more likely explanation for why they dropped wifi is that they are hoping to get the carriers to pick up the phone.
After all, there is no need to choose between WiFi and 3G - you can have them both. WiFi is extremely useful when your 3G plan is not unlimited, or when you need greater speed or less lag.
The extra cost of WiFi is minimal now that the hardware for 11g is so cheap and they already done the engineering to integrated it into the touch phones.

In Microsemi CEO slapped for fabricating degrees
Not only did he lie about his degrees, but when faced with it he vehemently denied it and attacked the person who brought it to light.
This guy is a real inspiration.

In Apple's 3G iPhone to launch 11 July
Is that the real price? If so, its pretty good.
If that is the price after you lock into your carrier's plan, then it is completely meaningless without knowing the carrier's plan.
