Awesome *air guitar et-al Bill & Ted*

In Ex-Sun man Bray takes on paranoid Android role at Google

Paris Hilton

Another middle aged man acting like a spoiled kid.

Just what the IT industry needs.

I can't wait to see how this turns out, it's as if Apple is paying him as well to completely screw Google-up too.

Paris, because it's been too long without her and she knows acting like a complete buffoon in public won't do you any harm.

Andy 97

Please can we have.....

In Spooks scramble to replace failed secret messaging system

Coffee/keyboard

a Nelson off The Simpsons pointing and doing a "ha-ha" icon.

Andy 97

There are alternatives, but most are shite

In BT rolls out new, 'competitive' consumer deals

Grenade

I agree, BT Vision is really good and the only people who criticize it haven't used it.

The alternatives are a really poor show and there is no way I'm letting Murdoch's basket of hate into my home.

I'm surprised that so few telcos offer this kind of IPTV/Freeview/sat service.

Andy 97

Not again!

In What's so bad about Samsung's Bada?

Thumb Down

Another company trying to lock us into their hardware and crappy OS.

Samsung have the WORST user experience of all phones and now they expect us to buy one because it does Twitter?

I think not.

I seem to remember Vodafone was doing a similar thing with 360, but that seems to have dies too.

Andy 97

O2, the problem network

In Brits blame Apple, Nokia, RIM et al for smartphone woes

FAIL

I knew they were the reason for all this trouble.

Andy 97

You aren't doing their net promoter score

In Orange backs Intel-Nokia Linux drive

Thumb Up

I trust you will vote with your feet.

Another problem network shielded by a great marketing team.

Andy 97

Colour temperature

In Samsung HMX-U10

FAIL

Again, Samsung seem to miss the simple things that are the difference between a good and a great product.

Colour temperature on the sample shots were all over the place.

Nice for weekend snappers, but it's not as good as a flip.

Also, no 25fps?

Andy 97

Missed chance?

In BBC confirms death of 6Music, slashes online budget by a quarter

Stop

6 Music needs to be sold not closed.

Commercial stations are appeased because they have a ready-made (tiny) audience and can then stop moaning like spoiled girls about how The BBC takes all their listeners because their programmes are so much better - oh boo hooo!

6Music Listener(s) is/are happy because they get to keep all the "really great" content and fab presenters like Gideon "I'm so hip and down with the kids that I still take the bus into work, but refuse to acknowledge people saying hello to me because I'm also very cool as well" Coe

BBC happy because they get to save money + a few quid spare, BBC staff happy because they get to keep a job.

Daily Mail happy because they ... what am I thinking? DM readers will never be happy until the Nazi party takes over and executes anyone who isn't like them,

Andy 97

Approved!

In BBC confirms death of 6Music, slashes online budget by a quarter

Thumb Up

Yes, Asian Network is excellent and I'm not an Asian either.

Many of the station's core demographic, however, still get all of their news from SW or the internet; listening to shows from their parent's countries of origin.

I have no idea why, but it's the same for ex-pats in Spain listening to Radio 2 off the satellite and moaning about it on The Daily Mail's forum.

Andy 97

Better than a mains charger:

In Voda goes ultra-cheap with handsets for the developing world

Go

A dynamo

A solar charger

A phone that is more efficient and a network that requires a phone to poll less.

Andy 97

Looks very nice too.

In Moto shows off eighth Android 'andset

Thumb Up

Motorola (once the lame duck of the mobile world) seem to have found their way again.

I hope the actual form is a good as it looks.

Andy 97

Hooray, a future of the UK

In IBM chills sealed data center with outside air

Joke

It's always cold here, IBM could build a DC in Cardiff or somewhere in Northumberland.

Finally I can see the future becoming bright again (or is that the glow of the raid clusters?)

Andy 97

Is this like google Wave?

In Google Buzz - Gmail mod for the Tweetbook set

Grenade

Who in the strategy department came up with this one then?

Face it; people use Facebook for friends and Linkedin for business.

If Linkedin got of their lazy corporate arses and released a whit label version, every intranet in the world would be fare game.

Sorry Google, your world domination looks like it's stuck at search and maps.

Andy 97

Excellent work that person!

In USB hack connects Droid to printers, video cams, and more

Thumb Up

Nice to see the human hunger to solving problems is still alive and well!

It'll be interesting to see what can be done with the iPad.

Andy 97

What? No gapless playback?

In Samsung Omnia Pro

FAIL

Seems strange that such a simple change to the player functionality isn't standard (as on iProducts).

What about all of us that like long playing albums or dance mixes?

Andy 97

Icon request

In Vodafone Twitterer takes aim at some beaver

Thumb Up

Please can we have a Nelson [The Simpsons] doing a "Ha ha" icon

Andy 97

Oh dear.....

In Brits take iTablet moniker for 12in iPad rival

Thumb Down

I hope the product turns out better than their website.

Andy 97

Why so long?

In Men at Work swiped Down Under riff

Unhappy

It seems that this song has been around for nearly 30 years, I'm amazed that someone from the clearing arm of this publisher didn't bring the case before.

Poor old MAW, they never seem to be able to get any luck with their work.

I feel the most sorry for the rest of the band who reportedly got virtually nothing from all the songs.

Andy 97

WTF?

In Police have more than 10,000 ANPR cameras

Thumb Down

Sorry, when did the UK get taken over by the East German government circa 1973?

Andy 97

And people like this....

In iPad runs Windows, Nokia runs OSX

Thumb Up

...are the reason the human race is so adaptive, we see a challenge and we try to beat it.

Good work that man.

I think it shows that even in an environment hostile to change it can be overcome

10/10

Andy 97

Genius!

In Spanish town to reward good drivers

Go

The mayor of this town is a complete genius.

Imagine Darling authorising the payments of speeding fines to Honda Jazz drivers.

It's a nice idea, but wouldn't work here.

Andy 97

Enjoyed the article

In Apple's Tablet won't save Big Dumb Media

Thumb Up

Well written and with clear thinking to boot.

We've all know for ages the end is near for newspapers, let's hope the same can be said for 24 hour news channels one day.

I yearn for the day of "just the facts" and the comments are reserved for the editor's page.

Andy 97

Stupid people ---- missed the point.

In Solicitor General takes fresh pop at PunterNet

Paris Hilton

Regulate it through legislation and we'd see a drop in sex slavery overnight.

Do I have to think of everything?

The same goes for some controlled substances like cannabis, MDMA and other leisure-based substances.

Paris, because she knows that money really can buy you love.

Andy 97

Seek and ye shall find.....

In Apple to end AT&T's iPhone exclusive?

Andy 97

The Republicans must love this...

In Only nukes can stop planetsmash asteroids, say US boffins

Thumb Down

I wonder if this report was funded by them?

Nukes in space? Hasn't Hollywood shown us anything in their films? You have to "nuke the *planet* from orbit, it's the only way to be sure"

Andy 97

Bloody hell!

In PM: UK airports to get perv scanners next week

Thumb Down

How much more will the average traveller need to endure?

And when this current level of security is decreased, will that mean the scanners will be decommissioned?

Andy 97

Hillarious

In Vomit cannon to protect vessels from pirates, paparazzi

WTF?

What these ships really need is a proper 'watch' to look out for these marauders.

A

s Ross Kemp explains to us [Ross Kemp on Pirates $ky 1], the boats they use are tiny and they attack at the rear of the larger vessel over powering the crew once they have climbed aboard.

Maybe the days of a convoy are soon to return?

Vomit cannon? - you're having a giraffe.

Andy 97

Excellent

In Hyundai's i10 goes green

Thumb Up

The South Koreans are indeed a skilled and ingenious people.

How quickly they have become such a serious global manufacturer.

It's not India that others need to watch closely.

Good for them!

Andy 97

There goes the neighbourhood

In Cadbury flakes in face of Kraft bid - cuts expected

Thumb Down

Now it will be shit chocolate and outsourced staff to Eastern Europe.

Remember when Nestle changed the Kit Kat chocolate?

Andy 97

No gapless playback?

In Sony Ericsson Yari

Thumb Down

Still SE haven't managed to put gap-less playback on any of their phones as standard.

I wonder why?

Their media players have this working, so what's the problem SE?

Andy 97

Didn't they watch the Top Gear special?

In GM plumps for long-distance hybrid Cadillac

Grenade

Electric cars are all well and good, but maybe if they were built a bit lighter.....

If the average car journey to work is usually made as a solo event, one would ponder why bother with 3 extra seats/doors etc.?

'Hugo' or 'Giles' drive like maniacs along the M4 every day pulling their body weight, fuel, golf clubs and 3 unused seats, doors etc. Wouldn't the better plan be to make a luxury solo car for commuting? This would save weight and production costs.

Just an idea.

Andy 97

BPI = money for old rope

In UK BitTorrent admin acquitted on fraud charge

Paris Hilton

The most difficult to deal with bunch of chancers I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.

Please can we have a Nelson [Simpsons] doing a "Ha Ha" icon.

Paris because she usually gets satisfaction from 12 people at once.

Andy 97

$16.7M? about £9M

In Russia assigns $16.7m for nuclear spaceships

Alert

That's less than some companies spend on internal comms.

I can't wait to see the finished project.

On the Space 1999 suggestion, Moonbase Alpha was almost destroyed by the angry inhabitants of a planet the Queller Drive inadvertently destroyed.

You can get all-excited about it by reading the synopsis here:

http://www.fanderson.org.uk/epguides/spaceyr1eg3.html#Episode%20Twelve

The episode after next is better because Brian Blessed is in it.

Andy 97

I wish I could embed an image on this

In European court pulls plugs on terror stop and search

Thumb Up

So instead here's a link:

Andy 97

Not like on Die Hard 4 is it.

In Supersonic stealth jumpjet in first hover-system flight test

WTF?

I am troubled by the idea of the amount of effort to lift the aeroplane and the amount of fuel it can carry, won't VTOL from a ship greatly reduce the range the pilot can operate at?

Did we think this one through?

Andy 97

Bono ..... he's a built-up heeled genius.

In Bono accuses ISPs of 'reverse Robin Hooding' over piracy

WTF?

Bono sez:

"The immutable laws of bandwidth tell us we’re just a few years away from being able to download an entire season of 24 in 24 seconds."

Get back to moaning about the environment and write some decent songs for once you self religious [ill-informed] fuckwit!

Andy 97

Erm.....

In BeautifulPeople ejects post-Xmas fatties

WTF?

How shallow?

Andy 97

David Lloyd....

In Brum DJ canned for cutting short Her Maj

Thumb Down

Not forgetting all the "great work you did" when you worked at the Radio Authority......

Andy 97

Unprofessional

In Brum DJ canned for cutting short Her Maj

Thumb Down

As someone who spent ten years behind the mic, I can't say I'm sorry to hear he got canned.

Nice bit of PR for the station, however, I would wonder if he'll be working in the UK market for a long while.

If radio is his main source of income I'd think he may need to retrain for a career in I.T.

A stupid thing to do, even on a supposedly hip and groovy station.

Even though you think it, you don't say anything about the Queen or Royal Family on radio. There are scores of estabilshment-crazed zealots (and even worse) automated logging stations all over.

What a dick head!

Andy 97

Glad

In BBC looks to grab internet TV market

Thumb Up

Excellent news about this project.

I think the project will be fraught with problems caused by NewsCorp's PR department, but it's a good step forward.

Now all we need is for an IP backbone that can stand all this additional traffic.

Andy 97

I know most people here are virgins,

In Billie Piper hooks up with Belle de Jour

IT Angle

but I do worry about the relevance to IT....

Oh, of course..

*slaps forehead*

Merry Xmas

Andy 97

Horse - stable door - bolt......

In Google to flog unlocked phones in January

Grenade

Yes yes, that's all very well, but I bet the UX is as bad as all the other Android phones..

It's no wonder Apple do so well, instead of getting engineers to design their stuff, they work on the UX first.

Andy 97

Is this something to do with Mandleson?

In DVLA data powers likely to be abused by foreign officials

FAIL

Whenever I see some EU-based crapness based around security and other bollocks its usually Sir Hiss who's got his fingers on it.

Massive fail and we can't even vote him out now.

Andy 97

Update

In Kidnap fears kybosh charity car rally

Having just got off the phone to one of the entrants I can confirm that many of them are shipping their cars over to Dakar directly and intend to continue by missing the 'hot spots'.

His biggest disappointment was not to be driving through Timbuktu.

Mind you, the car they were doing it was an L-reg Renault 5.... braver than I thought!

Andy 97

Still going

In Kidnap fears kybosh charity car rally

FAIL

My friend is still going.

I expect to watch his progress on badly shot video shown on Al-Jazera.

Poor lamb!

Andy 97

Above & Beyond

In Virgin Galactic trumpets SpaceShipTwo

Thumb Up

Thank goodness they had the good sense to get A&B to do the DJ work.

The track is Buzz by Tranquillity Base trance fans.......

Andy 97

Utter cobblrs!

In Google chief: Only miscreants worry about net privacy

WTF?

That's the attitude that brought Stalin's secret service so much power.

What an utter c*nt!

Andy 97

A vote winner

In Gov confirms plans for Sky box in charge of your house

WTF?

Someone must have put LSD in the tea at Labour Central.

Andy 97

M$ - those crazy Yanks!

In Beeb iPlayer blocked by Xbox velvet rope

FAIL

Quote:

"While Redmond schemes of making the Xbox 360 a complete media hub for households by adding more and more popular third-party services,"

They could also go a long way to making this happen if they sorted out the fans that make more noise than any other console on the market, awful overheating and reliability issues etc..... just a thought......

Andy 97

Great idea

In EA exec punts 96,000rpm e-car engine

Thumb Up

Finally we can have cars that sound like the ones in THX 1138.

Actually, I'm surprised nobody came up with this idea earlier.

I hope someone like Saab (Koenigsegg) or Audi will have a go and see what could really be achieved.

I think the earlier comment about EA was a bit rough.
