I was about to cough the £200 untill i noticed that the books are just as dear as the paper counterparts! to create and distribute paper books requires logistics, printing, and general human intervention... I dont mind paying for something nice... but a digital copy is costless...
does the author get a larger royalty from an ebook as the manufacturing and distribution costs are zero? the middlemen all get a bigger chunk and that isnt fair!
I would hapilly pay for an electronic title, if it was a sensible price, or like many of my bluerays - buy the physical media and get a free evectronic version too...
untill then... sony can bring out as many excellent readers as they want, its the bastards that are holding me back!!!
the MBA is getting there! more powerful, but still only one USB! it wouldnt be too hard to fit another on that chassis...
my mobile computing is catered for with a Vaio UX1XN so I wouldnt buy one... but if I was in the market for a £1400 smallish laptop, hmm... nope it would be a Vaio TT :)
Thankfully a sensible dash - minimalist and energy saving! neon lighting all ofer the car interior and giant LCD displays are the last place i want my precious electicity going!!!
as this is based on a current petrol car, it would be interesting to see the price comparison between one of these and the IC equivelent - purcase price, cost per mile in fuel and the recyling cost, both in money and CO2 :)
If I had an unlimited supply of cash and lived in a city, with a garage at home, then Id quite fancy one of these...
howabout this for an idea... leave the Voluntary rescue services alone...
fire that room full of think-mongerers and you will instantly save a lifetimes amount of spectum revenue.
actually thats damn good PR... fire the twats - save money, gain some shred of public respect and only hurt a few people who are sick twisted, probably overpaid individuals that wont be missed anyway!
when i finish work, well, often a little before i finish, my work mobile is turned off and dumped in the bag along with work laptop...
if your time is that valuable get a personal phone/email companion, etc and leave works one for work... in my experience calls from a work phone generally dont offer candy floss and parties, but more work!
surely mpg/mpcharge should be measured as distance travelled without stopping... if the mpg claims are made with the car being recharged every 5 minutes then they are a waste of time...
a move away from mpg will be needed and miles per unit of energy will be needed... a comparable approximation of the cost of running an internal combustion engine + cost of charging a battery pack = overal cost of driving/cost to environment, this way an SUV with a tiny hybrid engine to bend its way into 'green tax bands' will still be less environmentaly sound than a small capacity compact diesel car...
while we have it, there should also be an Xyear/Xmiles TCO figure laid out - environal cost of raw production, transportation to dealer, replacement batteries, disposal + recycling to really force the car manufacturoers to not hide behind ludicrus mpg and buzz technologies, but to show commitment to the environment....
my current BD collection, whist modest is still 20 disks... thats a fair investment...
using SD cards and transfering them to a larger storage medium is inherently risky, the cards themselves are prone to corruption as would be a central home repository... while CD/DVD/BD can all be revived with some careful cleaning...
If my downloaded collection dies, can I re download them? a-la PS3 store style, or will i be buggered - much like my lost itunes purchases??

Thankfully a sensible dash - minimalist and energy saving! neon lighting all ofer the car interior and giant LCD displays are the last place i want my precious electicity going!!!
as this is based on a current petrol car, it would be interesting to see the price comparison between one of these and the IC equivelent - purcase price, cost per mile in fuel and the recyling cost, both in money and CO2 :)
If I had an unlimited supply of cash and lived in a city, with a garage at home, then Id quite fancy one of these...

In Ofcom taps sailors for new fees
howabout this for an idea... leave the Voluntary rescue services alone...
fire that room full of think-mongerers and you will instantly save a lifetimes amount of spectum revenue.
actually thats damn good PR... fire the twats - save money, gain some shred of public respect and only hurt a few people who are sick twisted, probably overpaid individuals that wont be missed anyway!
everyones a winner!!!!

In Lawsuit accuses T-Mobile of asking staff to email 'off the clock'
when i finish work, well, often a little before i finish, my work mobile is turned off and dumped in the bag along with work laptop...
if your time is that valuable get a personal phone/email companion, etc and leave works one for work... in my experience calls from a work phone generally dont offer candy floss and parties, but more work!

In Men in Green step back from GM's 230mpg Volt claim
surely mpg/mpcharge should be measured as distance travelled without stopping... if the mpg claims are made with the car being recharged every 5 minutes then they are a waste of time...
a move away from mpg will be needed and miles per unit of energy will be needed... a comparable approximation of the cost of running an internal combustion engine + cost of charging a battery pack = overal cost of driving/cost to environment, this way an SUV with a tiny hybrid engine to bend its way into 'green tax bands' will still be less environmentaly sound than a small capacity compact diesel car...
while we have it, there should also be an Xyear/Xmiles TCO figure laid out - environal cost of raw production, transportation to dealer, replacement batteries, disposal + recycling to really force the car manufacturoers to not hide behind ludicrus mpg and buzz technologies, but to show commitment to the environment....

In Toshiba tight-lipped on Blu-ray player plan
my current BD collection, whist modest is still 20 disks... thats a fair investment...
using SD cards and transfering them to a larger storage medium is inherently risky, the cards themselves are prone to corruption as would be a central home repository... while CD/DVD/BD can all be revived with some careful cleaning...
If my downloaded collection dies, can I re download them? a-la PS3 store style, or will i be buggered - much like my lost itunes purchases??
Disks and pretty blue boxes are the way forward!!
